About History Department
The department of History is among the oldest department of Govt. College Jukhala, Bilaspur since 2007. Govt. College Jukhala offers Bachelor of Arts with History as one of the subjects for undergraduate students. The courses offered by the department are affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. Department has implemented the choice based credit system (CBCS) for grading B.A. students as per the guidelines of HPU.
Department has one regular faculty member having specialization in Indian History, Modern World History and Gender History.
The course covers the study of major historical events that took place both in India as well as across the world. Tutorial form an integral part of the teaching method in the department, the use of historical maps and audio-visual aids are also used to improve the learning process of the students. The Department normally acquires the latest books and journals for the college library where students can make the maximum use of them.
Subject History focuses to develop skills to evaluate the historical sources, methods, and interpretations behind historical narratives. It also helps students to recognize and appreciate the diversity of human experiences and how these change with the passage of time. The Subject history enables students to gain a better understanding of the past and contemporary events and to make use of that understanding to create a better future.
In addition to this, the course is career oriented in nature that opens many spheres for them after its completion. Some of the examples are, opportunities in Academics, in the area of Research, Museum and Archival jobs and useful for many competitive exams.
